Hawke's Bay Baby Massage Classes

Learn in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere how to massage your baby with me - Janine Gard - Internationally Certified Infant Massage Instructor - IAIM

TOUCH IS THE FIRST SENSE TO DEVELOP IN UTERO AND IS THE LAST SENSE TO LEAVE US

What is Baby Massage?
The International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM) uses a combination of Indian and Swedish Massage strokes, reflexology and gentle yoga stretches. The massage strokes encourage circulation and relaxation, the reflexology works on your baby's feet to release tension elsewhere in the body and the yoga stretches help develop suppleness in the muscles and joints.
Benefits of Baby Massage
  • Relaxation for parent(s) and baby
  • Improved sleep patterns
  • Eases discomfort from painful gas/wind/colic/reflux and growing pains
  • Helps with emotional and social development
  • Improves sensitivity to touch - great for baby's that have had any interventions or been in SCBU
  • Helps your baby to self regulate, reduce stress hormones and helps an upset or anxious baby to calm
  • Brain development through sensory experiences and positive interactions
  • Decreases Postnatal Depression through giving nurturing touch and quality time with your baby
  • Promotes bonding and attachment

IDEAL FOR BABIES 6 WEEKS OLD TO CRAWLING

What to expect from the classes
You will offered the opportunity to learn infant massage with your baby over 3 consecutive weeks. Only you or your partner will massage your baby while I will use a life size massage doll to show you the massage strokes, reflexology and yoga stretches.
The three week sessions introduce a whole body massage in manageable sections which allow you and your baby to cope with the new techniques. It can take a few weeks for your baby to tolerate a whole body massage due to their immature nervous systems. Breaking the massage down into small sections means both you and your baby can get the most from each session.

You will have lots of opportunity to ask questions during and after each session as well as meet other parents. The cost is $80.00 for 3 sessions, you will also receive handouts via email after each session along with a free 30ml bottle of massage oil and light refreshments included after each session. Sessions run from 10.30 am - 11.45 am, Napier. Numbers are limited, please book early to reserve your space.

Please use booking page to make booking, payment is required before massage classes start.
Partners are welcome to come along, only one of you will be able to massage your baby, the other is welcome to observe or practice on a doll (provided) along side your baby.

One on One sessions are available on request.
